Mrs. Zahra Boateng

Director

Mrs. Zahra Baitie-Boateng is deeply passionate about helping young people learn, grow, and thrive. She believes education should nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence — values she actively champions both at Merton International School, where she serves on the Board, and at Merton Montessori School, where she has helped modernize the learning environment. At Merton Montessori, Zahra led the creation of a dynamic playground, introduced digital learning tools, and launched a weekend program featuring robotics, cooking, and creative play, all designed to make learning fun and experiential.

Beyond her work in education, Zahra serves as Managing Director at Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH), a philanthropic initiative of Alibaba Philanthropies that supports outstanding African entrepreneurs. She has previously held positions at Dalberg Global Development Advisors, Gates Foundation and Development Re-Imagined where she served as China Director. A graduate of Yale University and Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, Zahra brings a global perspective and a deep commitment to building opportunities for the next generation — in classrooms and beyond.
