The focus of this project was to build in the children a positive attitude towards their learning experiences. Year 3 learners were introduced to a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset and inspiring stories of people who achieve great things in life in spite of their challenges.
They enacted roles of certain prominent personalities who went through challenges but have achieved great things. Some include Dr Seuss, an American children’s author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. Oprah Winfrey, an American media executive, actress, talk show host, television producer, and philanthropist. Lionel Messi, an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains both Spanish club Barcelona and the Argentina National Team.
Learners also talked about how the brain grows just like muscles when we learn new and challenging things. They designed a chart of positive statements that must be used instead of negative statements that are commonly used. The vent ended with a dance performance to the admiration of all.
