Mr R. Baitie

Director/Board Chairman

Mr. R. Baitie is an astute and experienced businessman who has worked in executive management positions most of his working career. His entrepreneurial journey began at age 18 when he took his first loan to set up Transel Ghana Ltd. - a profitable car servicing company, and has spanned 4 decades and cuts across several sectors. His vast experience leading several successful firms of varying sizes has equipped him with a wide range of invaluable skill sets, which add value to any organization he is a part of. Mr. Baitie is a recognized authority within Ghana's transport sector.

At age 29, he successfully negotiated and obtained representation for Subaru Motor Vehicles for West Africa. At the time, he was the youngest 'Official Factory Distributor and Importer' of motor vehicles in Ghana. The experience he garnered during Transel's successful two-decade long history, has positioned him as an expert in Ghana's transport sector. His industry knowledge, management skills, and acute analytic abilities are frequently sought after and he thus provides confidential consulting services to several firms and industry stakeholders.

Recognizing the opportunity to impact Ghana's education landscape, Mr Baitie pivoted from the transport industry in 2000 to jointly finance Merton International Primary and Secondary School with his wife: Elizabeth Baitie. He has been a part of the management team since inception in 1998, and was appointed Chairman of the Board when the two schools (Merton Montessori and the Primary and High School) were separated in 2004. Since then he has leveraged his administrable and business acumen to work alongside the CEO to grow Merton's vision: to raise a standard of excellence.

While his strong entrepreneurial and managerial skills are undeniable assets, he asserts that his family and Christian values are his most important assets and what define 'who' he is.

Established in 1998, Merton International Primary and High School profile a student body who are buoyant in their physical activity keen in their cognitive reception practical in their application and pliant to the values that underscore the finest qualities of the World Citizen.
